The writers frame her narrative in such a way that it gives the viewer an opportunity to decided if they love her or hate her.
Both of the storylines for this season are developing painfully slow. I have literally fast forwarded through some scenes, and never felt like I missed any key details.

The GFE, as a series, is a perfect example of why show runners and producers shouldn't try to reinvent the wheel. With season 1 - Starz had an original, thought-provoking and erotic physiological-thriller.
With season 2, that same show has been watered down into a wasteful use of my 27 minutes. The first season was interesting.

I hate kissing sounds. There is nothing compelling about this at all. Its a waste of time unless mediocre soft core porn is what you're after. Season one was so good, fascinating character study with great cinematography, sound, and an absolutely unique vibe.

I can imagine the actors had to take time to recover after immersing themselves in such potent roles! I felt every teardrop, every sail of despair, every soul-shredding betrayal, every passionate embrace, every deep, melding kiss I'm very disappointed there is no Season 3 yet.

Who exactly is the girlfriend, here, and what is their supposed experience? It does not escape notice that in attempting this bifurcated season, Kerrigan and Seimetz have essentially created two episodic films, about three hours long each, under the guise of television.
When I spoke to them , they both affirmed to me how much they wanted to push past the expected definitions of television with this format.
But the takeaway of Season 2 suggests that perhaps Seimetz and Kerrigan would have rather made films about the topics that really interest them, without the constraints of being tied to sex work.

Verified Purchase. I was excited when I heard The Girlfriend Experience was renewed for a second season. Season 1 features Riley Keough Elvis' granddaughter as Christine, a struggling law student in Chicago.
She enters the wild world of GFE after a classmate invites her to a "business" dinner. Season 1 beautifully and brilliantly gives the viewers especially a novice like me an inside look at the surprisingly cut-throat business of escorting.
Christine is a complex character who walks the line of being bipolar and schizophrenic. The writing was superb and the cinematography is amazing; in some ways the city of Chicago is a secondary character in how its framed throughout the series.
I binged watch the series when Starz was offering its online users the opportunity before the Season 1 premiere.
Now, onto the disaster that is Season 2. Where to begin There was no depth to the writing and no character development As the episode progresses the viewers gets no further insight into her personality.
