Ist nur zu hoffen, dass es bei den anderen neuen Veröffentlichung besser wird. Terence Hill is as charming as ever, and Henry Fonda is solid as the elder gunslinger. Their interplay is a tad obnoxious and blunt at times, really driving home the generational gap and Fonda's closing monologue spells it out , but it's certainly a good time to watch all the same.
The blatant digs at Peckinpah are a little direct as well, but I appreciate those--it's not that I dislike Peckinpah, but I can see where the filmmakers are coming from.
I could have done without some of the more crude humor, and the super fast motion effects, despite being there to make a….
Sergio Leone produced this comedic homage to his own Spaghetti Westerns and, although Tonino Valerii is the sole credited director, he also took the reins for a few key scenes.
It certainly bears a lot of his distinctive stamp in its epic sweep and slow-burning confrontations. I'm not much of a fan of the daft clowning that Venetian comedy star Terence Hill birth name Mario Girotti specialises in.
It tends to jar with the more subtle humour elsewhere. Nonetheless, Henry Fonda is superbly poised as the old gunslinger whom Hill's young upstart character idolises.
A handful of classic scenes outweigh everything else here: the near-wordless opening sequence a homage to the opening of Leone's masterpiece Once Upon a Time in the West , the hall of mirrors scene, the billiard balls scene, the shootout with the strong Wild Bunch spot the reference!
This selection just had to be something from Italian spaghetti Western master Sergio Leone. Well, he didn't direct this, but he did produce it.
The film opens with three gunmen ambushing Jack in a barbershop, but he takes them all out with a single shot.
That causes the barber to remark to his son, "Who's faster than Beauregard? But it does the story a disservice in places as it drags the pacing to a halt without any sort of purpose other than to accentuate his laid back persona.
We get it! After a while you need to start fleshing out the character a little…. This film has all the Leone hallmarks, with great camerawork and a Morricone score, but the main difference is the humor.
Whereas Leone's humor is very tongue-in-cheek and morbid "When you have to shoot, shoot. There's even literally a pie in the face gag.
After the third or fourth time they did the sped-up-footage Benny Hill thing and Tex Avery cartoon jokes, I kind of checked out. Still, there is an interesting subtextual element to the film.
It's about the end of the gunslinger era represented by Henry Fonda and the beginning of the twentieth century, where…. One Movie Every Day Review by FernandoFCroce.
Sergio Leone's elegiac self-lampoon, signed by Tonino Valerii as a painter's copy etched in custard. The graying slinger Henry Fonda has a murdered brother yet little desire for dramatic vengeance, his brand of retirement doesn't sit well with the sagebrush goofball Terence Hill who's idolized him since childhood: "My my, how modern the old folks have become.
There is no doubt that this hilarious spaghetti western is an absolutely fascinating and memorable work. It shows us two charismatic protagonists, an old and famous gunman, and another young unknown but equally skilful.
An uneven pair of geniuses full of charm and style, who manage to give a relaxed and comical air to the film. Along with a wonderful soundtrack, filmmaker Tonino Valerii practically says goodbye to conventional westerns when he presents this film.
At the end of an era, this innovative film appears, which never ceases to surprise with its iconic moments. For me it was a constant enjoyment, and it left me with two absolutely great moments in my memory.
Definitely a western to be seen. The first half of this movie is dull and boring. However it really picks up its feet in the second half, with outstanding chemistry between Fonda and Hill, a great message, fantastic score and super fun throughout.
But the main point is when you're up to your nose in shit, keep your mouth shut. A very entertaining melding of the Leone and Trinity visions of the west, though the thoughtful philosophical observations of the former sometimes makes for strange bedfellows with the broad slapstick of the latter.

Fonda delivers a great performance as the last gunslinger in the west, pushed by Nobody into one last epic stand against the forces of outlawry.
An enjoyable comedy spaghetti western without the grim approach from the dollar-trilogy. TH blue eyes and facial expressions are stealing all the screen time in contrast of the seriousness of HF.
Yes it is dated and the story a bit bland but it hold so much nostalgic value for me that scores are irrelevant. My version was tainted by a weird layered dubbing mismatch that I could remember from previous views.
This happens when Germans, French and Italians team up to make a western. Relaxed western which unfortunately does not feel really finished. The film ends quickly and what could have been an epic shooting only gets lazy with still images that replace each other.
Besides: what was the film about? What was the real story other than that Nobody wanted his idol to shoot at bandits? Review by Thomas G.

Terrence Hill is awesome as Nobody This selection just had to be something from Italian Marie Laforet Western master Sergio Leone.
